To take an example: Sweden will give three months of paternity leave

When you become a father you begin to understand many things and question others: for example, the issue of paternity leave. After giving birth to my daughter I realized (obviously when you don't have them you don't think about these things), that maternity and paternity leave in our country are very short and I don't say it just for comparing ourselves to others, but because it's really not enough time to part with your offspring or to stop sharing your care with the father throughout the day.

It is not so in Sweden, where until last year the father enjoyed two months, but thanks to a law that Parliament has just approved, increase to three with remuneration included. Of course, this country remains in the lead in terms of the duration of paternity leave in Europe, since between both parents there are 420 days.

Who does not want to use the permit, will not receive his salary during three months of vacation. According to Niklas Löfgren, the spokesman for the Social Security agency of that country, it is believed that these days will be used but he does not know what their effect will be, although the idea is that the proportion of parents who take permission increases Thanks to this and other reforms that will come.

And in Spain?

In our country for now we will continue with the same two weeks of permission. The last time this topic was put on the table, it was proposed to extend it to four weeks, but the government was responsible for discarding it due to the 'high cost it entails'. Hopefully one day the position that deserves within the policies of this country will be given to family conciliation.
