"We are all rare, we are all unique", World Rare Disease Day

Today, February 28 is celebrated for the seventh time the World Rare Disease Day. They are so called because of their low incidence in the population, it is believed that there are between five thousand and eight thousand rare diseases that affect 3 million people in Spain and 7 percent of the world's population.

This year's motto is "Educate in Rare Diseases, a subject of all", and it is something in which parents have a great responsibility, because it is in our hands to create awareness in our children that "We are all rare, we are all unique".

The inclusion of children and young people with a rare disease is essential for their quality of life. In many cases there is a environment not adapted to your needs and remain outside the education system. Therefore, the campaign aims to:

  • Sensitize, inform and train on the problem of rare diseases in Spanish society.
  • Position rare diseases on the agenda of the Administration and the Media.
  • Transfer the importance of union, cohesion and mobilization to make social change possible in rare diseases.
  • Link the hope and the work that the Federation does every day as the first step to stop these situations of lack of equity.
