Laughter, music, theater, games ... are a way to make the hospital stay lighter for sick children. I find hospital classrooms and all those very important initiatives aimed at making children happier and better face hospital stay.
What to say if the children themselves are protagonists of a play, a musical, like the one that is taking place at the Hospital de Albacete and that can be seen soon on stage with the collaboration of doctors, family and solidarity organizations.
The Hospital Classroom of the Integrated Area of Albacete has begun the academic year with a multitude of activities, shows and workshops for children admitted to the Hospital of Albacete. As every year, around the celebration of International Children's Day with Cancer, the Hospital prepares an activity with the patients treated in the Child Oncology Unit.
On this occasion, the proposal is to create a theater group and perform a play with different musical numbers with the aim of fostering relationships between patients, their families, healthcare staff and volunteers in a playful framework as well as breaking stereotypes about the child cancer.
The musical work will feature musical numbers with voice in playback and live (with such familiar themes as "Mamma Mia", "Smiles and tears", "Grease", "The Lion King" ...), and children will they will become actors and singers, learning choreography, participating in the making of costumes and scenery ...
It is a very active group called "Los Guachis", formed by the group of patients, relatives, associations and personnel related to Pediatric Oncology of Albacete. Anyone who wants to attend can do so by providing a donation of five euros that will go to AFANION and the group of volunteers More Than An Illusion.
Rehearsals have already begun, but we will have to wait until February of next year when This musical show premieres at the Teatro La Paz de Albacete, the International Day of Children with Cancer (February 15). We wish you good luck!
