The thematic night dedicated to "Childhood without parents"

Normally I talk about these documentaries after seeing them, but given the quality of this program, I am sure it will not disappoint and I tell you beforehand so that you can write it down on the agenda. Next Saturday “The thematic night” of Spanish Television is dedicated to “Childhood without parents”.

From the RTVE website you can see the introduction to the three documentaries that will be broadcast on Saturday at 23:30 on the 2nd of RTVE, and these can be viewed online after the program.

Orphanages, dropouts, the situation of children without parents in first and third world countries, obstacles to adoption in countries like Spain… Are some of the topics that will be discussed in the documentaries, of which we offer you the summary below.

  • The disinherited of Manila. In the shadow of Manila's luxury stores and large companies, hundreds of children live on the street. They take refuge in the doors and hide in the cemeteries trying to go unnoticed by the police. If they find them, they risk ending up in the RAC, a kind of shelter where children of all ages live in crowded conditions, in deplorable conditions and without the right to leave.
  • The catwalk children. In 1997 when Bill Clinton signed the ASFA law, the adoption and family safety law in the United States, he asked states to expedite the permanence of children in shelters and accelerate and increase the number of adoptions. Now adoption is in private hands and marketing to attract families is a priority. Spain is one of the first adopting countries at international level and yet it has thirty thousand children who are in a situation of helplessness and therefore have had to be supervised by the administrations. There is a problem in our country, which must come to light and to which we must find a solution.
  • Color in Matruchhaya 09. In India, on the outskirts of the city of Nadiad is the Matruchhaya orphanage. Children arrive here, some of them babies from families in extreme poverty who are forced to part with their children. Between October and November 2009, coinciding with the Indian holidays of the Diwañi, a small number of professors and students from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid visit the Matruchhaya orphanage. There they carry out fun artistic activities with the children that makes them forget for a few days the long-awaited adoption family.

Undoubtedly some interesting approaches that will make us know other realities and reflect on our surroundings.

In full vacations, I don't know if I will have television or Internet connection on Saturday, but I hope not to get lost The thematic night dedicated to “Childhood without parents”, with these promising documentaries on the subject.
