Peanuts in pregnancy related to allergy in children

Nut allergy is one of the most frequent food allergies in childhood. It is unknown what causes the allergy, but the answer could be in fetal life. A new study relates eating peanuts in pregnancy with allergy in the child.

Even so, in view of the results, not yet entirely conclusive, it would be quick to recommend pregnant women to eliminate the consumption of peanuts from their diet, because it is not known for sure if eating it is what causes allergy later in the child .

What they have found is that the children of women who had eaten peanuts (or peanuts) while pregnant were almost three times more likely to develop this allergic reaction than children of mothers who had not eaten them.

Of the more than 500 babies between 3 and 15 months of age allergic to milk or egg who participated in the study (being more prone to food allergies), more than a quarter had a strong reaction in the sensitivity test Peanut

Although it is not clear how much peanut consumption in pregnancy can have an allergy in the child, they also found that the more peanuts a woman had eaten during pregnancy, the more risk her child had to have a positive test result. . However, eating peanuts during breastfeeding did not seem to influence the outcome.
