Laptops could decrease male fertility

If you are a man, you have considered having a child and you read these lines with your laptop on your knees maybe the chances of conceiving a baby decrease due to this last gesture.

A group of Argentine researchers indicates that laptops resting on the legs can affect male fertility, since these cause damage to the mobility and fragmentation of sperm DNA.

Researchers from Córdoba (Argentina), members of the Nascentis reproductive medicine center, have evaluated semen samples from healthy donors with no history of recent diseases.

Actually, it was not the men who held the computers on their legs, but it was the semen samples that were kept under a laptop. Other sperm samples did not have the device on them, although the rest of the circumstances were the same.

The specialists explain that, after four hours of incubation of the sperm under two different conditions, they observed that there were a large percentage of affected sperm in the group of samples exposed to the laptop.

To carry out this study, three factors were taken into account to study the sperm quality of the samples: check if the sperm were alive, if they moved and if the sperm DNA was intact.

The study showed that exposure to these devices did not cause sperm death, but it did affect mobility. The group of samples exposed to radiation contained less sperm that moved rapidly and more than still sperm.

In addition, there was a significant increase in sperm with fragmented DNA in the fraction exposed to radiation from the laptop.

In short, the authors of the study advise all men to avoid using laptops on their legs as these can cause damage to the mobility and fragmentation of sperm DNA, so that their reproductive capacity could be affected.

It may be that not only addiction to certain substances reduces men's fertility, but also the excess of technology affects them ...

Although this is the first research carried out in the world on the subject, it is necessary to think and we hope that new studies deepen The consequences of laptops for male fertility.
