What school awaits our children? (III)

Another problem from the school that awaits our childrenPerhaps the most worrisome we may have to face is bullying.

There are experts who point out that bullying in schools Among peers, bullying will affect 25% of children at some time in their lives, although in many cases it becomes somewhat entrenched in coexistence and that will accompany them course after course, without being taken seriously In all cases the psychological trauma to which they are subjected if there is no serious physical violence.

He bullying It means a continued abuse that a child receives from another or others. Half of these children are paralyzed by bullying, which is usually more psychological or social than physical.

Many others turn themselves into stalkers, in order to defend themselves against violence. The mechanism of victimization leaves sequels in all of them and affects all students, whether or not they are victims, participate as such, as accustomed passive observers or as stalkers throughout their childhood.

Violence ends up being experienced as a normal form of relationship and parents are not normally prepared to face it either. They minimize bullying, deny it, claim the child to defend themselves or tell him that it prepares him for life or that it has always happened.

Given this educational reforms are not being effective, rather the opposite, because problems have become accepted as normal in schooling, which reveals that our society is not being able to provide education with a minimum of quality or to ensure the emotional safety of children in school.

There are those who consider that these 25% figures are an absurd exaggeration, but these are political leaders of Education who do not rely on complete or statistical studies, so, until verified figures are published, my particular impression based on experience staff, is that really 1 in 4 children suffers insults, mockeries or more or less minor aggressions on a premeditated basis by peers.

To end this panorama that hurts me so much to present such a bleak, there are children with special educational needs due to a range of disorders, problems, diseases or particular situations, which will have to face a system that, in practice, is not prepared, trained nor funded to serve them. Do you perceive that the problem is so widespread?

The school that awaits our children it has to improve, and much, to offer us the security of an adequate education for all.
