Back to school: pediatricians recommend a progressive recovery of habits

We have already told you by offering some tips for going back to school: when September arrives, the best thing is that children recover their sleeping habits, schedules and meals progressively.

Now that September arrives, the Spanish Society of Outpatient Pediatrics and Primary Care (SEPEAP) and the Spanish Association of Primary Care Pediatrics (AEPap) again make this recommendation to parents. That way the adaptation to the school will be less hard.

You have to pay special attention when you get up and go to bed at night. It is best to help them get up each time a little earlier, and the same for bedtime. The possible excess of television and the usual meals must also be corrected.

The return to the previous routine will also be done with the help of the educators, starting, from the same school, a return to the progressive school in terms of activities and requirements, lighter at the beginning.

In any case, pediatricians insist that most students usually adapt to school normality in one or two weeks, based on the assumption that both the school and family environment are adequate. If some children take longer, it is normal and you have to be patient and calm, without demanding much and offering them some more time to recover the rhythm.

Finally, pediatricians emphasize that it is always important to maintain a good state of health to meet the demands of the school year: complete and varied feeding, daily physical activity and good control of activities related to new technologies (television, computer ...).

Of course, they are important issues throughout the year, but who does not relax in summer ... Now we have to help the little ones (and try it with ourselves too) a progressive recovery of habits and schedules.
