Obese couples take longer to conceive

In addition to those known, Danish scientists indicate that another complication for obese people is the conception of a child.

While doctors had already announced that obesity affects fertility in women and the quality of waiting in men, a new study says fertility problems when both partners suffer from obesity.

The scientists studied how long it took 48,000 couples to get pregnant. They observed that the chances of pregnancy of an obese couple is up to three times lower than those of a normal weight couple.

An obese couple, considering obese people who exceed the WHO standards, takes 1.4% more than the average, which is a year of attempts, to achieve conception. It means that they should consider normal about a year and a half of attempts to get pregnant.

Apart from recommending patience, specialists recommend obese couples to start a weight control plan if they are thinking of having a child.

In addition to promoting conception, adequate weight helps prevent a risky pregnancy linked to the mother's excess weight problems during pregnancy.

It is also important for the future health of the baby, because it is believed that with obese parents the tendency of overweight children is significant.
