Is your baby bigheaded? I could be smarter and have more success in the future

We are concerned about its shape and also its size. Especially when we think it has to go through the birth canal. Pass by Well, it can be a comfort to know that more big-headed babies, with bigger heads, tend to be smarter according to a study.

Something that we can verify as soon as we are born, but be careful, we do not get excited with our "baby Einsteins", taking into account that all babies have a large head, since proportionally, being like the thorax, it is the largest part of their body. So, when to consider that a baby is stubborn and therefore will probably be smarter and more successful in the future?

Well, what we can do is add centimeters to the average size of newborn heads, which is about 35 centimeters for boys and 34 for girls, according to the WHO. A greater cranial perimeter, greater cerebral volume and greater intelligence according to the data of an investigation.

The study, published in the specialized review "Journal of Molecular Psychiatry", has been carried out by the University of Edinburgh and links the size of a child's head with his academic achievements later in life. We used data from 100,000 Britons stored by the Biobank of the United Kingdom, which has collected more than half a million samples from people between the ages of 37 and 73.

According to statements by Professor Ian Deary, leader of the team that made the discovery, Professor at the School of Psychology and Language Sciences at the University of Edinburgh,

"The first analysis of the data shows that babies born with larger heads are significantly more likely to obtain a degree, as well as the highest score in verbal-numerical reasoning tests."

The study, which more extensively studies the genetics, cognitive functions and physical health of the sample, also identified 17 "significant" genes that affect brain function and have an impact on mental and physical health. Which would confirm that those with better health in general are likely to have higher levels of intelligence.

Anyway, we have many doubts. I guess it is not difficult to measure the intelligence of each one thanks to the tests to calculate the IQ. But how did they understand the success of a person in the study? Well-paid jobs thanks to your academic achievements? What about family or social success? Does more intelligence equate to better work? Does a "better" job make us happier?

We do not know how they will measure the success of these people who were bigheads babies. I have already expressed my doubts. That is why, in any case, I believe that we must ensure that our children's abilities are strengthened, whatever they may be, and also, above all, try to make them grow up happy and be good, whole people. Maybe this gives more happiness than a good job ... and head size matters little.
