How hard it is! Children do not drink enough water a day

I don't know if they are always entertained and forget about drinking, but you have to insist often. A study shows that most children have a hard time drinking the necessary water throughout the day.

Specifically, according to a recent study published in the Spanish Journal of Community Nutrition, up to 91% of school-age children do not drink enough water.

The research was carried out on children between nine and thirteen years of age in the Community of Madrid, but surely with respect to the smallest, like our children, the figures would not be very different.

According to the study, only 9% of the children evaluated drink enough fluids, while the vast majority drink much less than recommended by the European Food Safety Authority. In addition, it was recorded that most of the children (more than 70%) did not perform enough physical activity, even many were sedentary.

Regardless of the level of activity, water intake was insufficient among schoolchildren, which can affect your physical and cognitive development, since incorrect hydration does not affect different ways.

Water is the healthiest drink for children (and for the elderly), and the most refreshing now that summer is coming. But also remember that if your children have a hard time drinking it, we can make natural juices, vitamin waters, milk and also provide them with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, which also hydrate them.

Remind them to drink often (they only ask for water when they are thirsty which is a symptom of dehydration), offer them water when you drink it or leave them a glass or a bottle within reach on the nightstand, or next to their games, add the bottle to your school bag, carry it in your bag when you leave home ...

So let's not forget This important part of healthy eating: adequate hydration. Drink water not only accompanying meals but throughout the day several times, lots of fruit and vegetables and especially recover fluids if they have exercised.
